Fryeburg Fair 2012

If you live in New England you have heard of Maine’s Largest Fair which is the Fryeburg Fair. It is held for one week starting the Last Sunday in September going thru the following Sunday. I have been going to this fair ever since I was a kid so it is a family tradition and I plan on continuing this tradition with my own family. Each year it gets bigger and more expensive every year but well worth it in my opinion. I usually go on Saturday which is the day of the parade but not this year I went on a Friday and it was so bright and sunny temperature in the 70’s a perfect day. Each day they have a few different themes like Monday is Woodsman’s Day, Tuesday is Senior Citizen’s Day. Each night they have a concert. Thursday I caught a little of Jo Dee Mesina as I went up at 8:00 and had free parking and got in the gate free. The fair is open 7:00 A.M. -11:00 P.M. They showcase a variety of exhibit halls where you can set up a booth to sell your product. New this year was a building just for homemade local products I tried Eli’s Strawberry Soda which was good and I saw moxie Jelly which I bet is not that good. Moxie is a Maine soda that has been around for a very long time. They have rides and carnival games. You must stop by Loretta’s Kitchen to sample some of her homemade biscuits or rice pudding made the old fashion way on a wood stove. I have had both they are good although rice pudding takes an acquired taste to like.
Visit the website at www.fryeburgfair.com or follow them on Facebook at: and learn all about this and if you live in New England next year you should attend it is such a great family event.
