On November 3, 2015 CINEDIGM will be releasing The
Nutcracker Sweet on DVD for a MSRP $14.93 and Digital Download. This animated
film was produced by Aronnax Animation Studios and directed by Eduardo Schuldt
with stars including Alicia Silverstone (The Crush), Ed Asner (UP), Karen
Strassman (Ever After High) and Drake Bell (Drake & Josh).
Beginning on Christmas Eve when the Silberhaus
children Marie and Fritz receive an unexpected gift from their godfather a
nutcracker doll. Soon caught in the enchanted present’s spell, the children are
swept into a dangerous world and witness a great battle between a vast army of
toy solders’, led by the nutcracker against a terrible platoon of mice
commanded by the evil Mouse King. Follow Marie and Fritz’s journey through a
Kingdom of Dolls, through the Christmas Forest, past the Almond milk Sea and
the Palace of the Marzipans.
The DVD also includes meet the Cast, Becoming
Animated: Recording Sessions, Trailer and Nutcracker Suite Children’s Ballet
Performance.
My Opinion: I really enjoyed this version of The
Nutcracker Suite as when I was child I did not like it as I did not understand
it but this one made more sense for the age group and the cast was amazing. I
will be including this in my holiday movies every year and sharing it with all
my young nieces and nephews.
