Miss Nelson Is Back

Out now from PBS Kids is Reading Rainbow Miss Nelson is Back staring Levar Burton. For over 30 years this beloved children’s television series Reading Rainbow has been bringing stories to life. Hosted by acclaimed actor LeVar Burton, journey to exciting places and build a lasting connection with your favorite books. This DVD has four episodes to watch which are Miss Nelson is Back which is read by celebrity Ruth Buzzi illusions appear in abundance as Levar gets made-up like a movie monster for his birthday celebration, and then gets involved in Harry Blackstone’s magic act Ruth Buzzi reads Miss Nelson is Back a rollicking story about a group of rowdy students who try to take advantage of their teacher’s absence when she’s out sick one day and how she gets revenge on them by disguising herself as Viola Swamp the “meanest teacher in the world.”

Our Big Home which is read by celebrity Naomi Judd LeVar visits the United States Nations building to learn about how different countries of the world try to work together, Naomi Judd reads Our Big Home a poem about how everything is the world is connected and how we must work together to make the world succeed.
How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World which is read by celebrity Helen Mirren Levar and a friend discover that cooking is very much like conducting a science experiment as they follow recipes for lasagna, marinara sauce and apple-raisin muffins. Helen Mirren reads How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World a tale of a woman who goes to elaborate lengths to gather all the ingredients to make a pie after she finds her local grocery store closed.
Kate Shelley and the Midnight Express read by celebrity Brian Dennehy  On a train ride from California to Washington state Levar learns about trains and how the transcontinental railroad was built. Brian Dennehy narrates the true story of how a young teen named Kate Shelley risked her life to save the engineers of a train that crashed into a river when a bridge near her home collapsed and how she had to get word to the nearest station to alert them to stop the express.
My Opinion: I use to watch Reading Rainbow when I was a child and it is so nice to go on an adventure and learn about the world around us so this will be a nice treat for any child to watch.
