March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’s birthday what better way to celebrate than to read? Did you know Dr. Seuss would be 113 this year? While he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the pages of his books. He forever changed the way children’s books were written and continues to inspire generations.  

The Cat’s Hat Parfait

This luscious, velvety hat is for eating, not wearing!

What you’ll need:

straight-sided clear glass or plastic tumblers

long-handled ice cream spoons

vanilla yogurt (thicker Greek yogurt works well) or vanilla ice cream

your favorite fresh red berries or cherries, coarsely chopped

whipped cream

decorating bag or plastic sandwich bag (optional)

Directions:

Wash fruits, let dry, then coarsely chop. In each glass, alternate layers of vanilla yogurt with your favorite fresh red berries or cherries, creating the red and white stripes of the Cat’s hat. To keep the yogurt from smearing, use a decorating bag (or plastic sandwich bag with the corner cut off) to fill the glasses.

Depending on availability and tastes, you could also make parfaits using pureed frozen fruits thickened with a little cornstarch or canned cherry pie filling and vanilla ice cream.

Top off these toppers with a dollop of whipped cream and dig in!

The Cat in the Hat comes to the rescue, launching Operation Rover Repair. Noe The Cat, Nick, Sally, and Fish are off on a cosmic mission of their own to find Rover!

Together, they survive a dust storm on the surface of Mars, rocket through an asteroid belt, and then narrowly escape being sucked into Jupiter by its huge gravitational pull! Ultimately, they hitch a ride on a comet that leads them all safely back to the Space Station, along with plenty of space samples, and stories, even a small souvenir that follows The Cat in the Hat and our crew back to Earth!

My Opinion: This film for ages 2 to 8, young children will appreciate the rhyming lyrics and easy to follow the story-line. Parents can be assured their children are learning within a fun environment. The Cat in the Hat knows a lot about Space does not disappoint, as it is right in-line with the other Dr. Seuss stories and a classic to watch for years to come.

Red Copper Fry Pan

I know you must have seen the infomercial from Red Copper, I know I have and I was impressed with it being oven safe (up to 500 degrees), scratch resistant, Non-Stick, dishwasher safe, stay cool handle, ceramic copper infused cookware along with fast, even cooking of foods. I was sent the 10” Fry Pan I also noticed that the women in the commercial are from the cookbooks for Dump Cakes her name is Cathy Mitchell. 

The Red Copper Fry Pan is PFOA Free and PTFE Free and it comes with first-time use instructions. You need to season it before you use it for the first time with a light coating of vegetable oil over the entire surface. Place in the oven at 300 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool finally wipe away an excess oil with a cloth or a paper towel. You are recommended to do this 2 times a year but it the non-stick leaves sooner repeat the process

My Opinion: I like the pan and the way it cooks but my question is how can it be non-stick when you must coat it frequently? It is a great pan for the price and sharp looking as well.  I found it cooked food just fine and I am just going to coat the pan each time so I will not have to worry about food sticking.
