Inside this book, you have prayers
for every feeling you may have along with a familiar president or people from
history. I choose George Washington and his prayer is about our nation to be
moved. George Washington was a founding father who casts an enormous shadow on
US history as a general of the Revolutionary forces that prevailed against
perhaps the greatest army the world then knew, followed by eight years as the
first president of the newly established United States. To his credit,
Washington never sought power. He had to be encouraged to take office as
president and stepped away after two terms despite many wanting him to
continue. He believed that the strength of the country, though, rested not in a
single man but the citizens.
I now make it my earnest prayer, that God would have
you and the State over which you preside, in his holy protection that he would
incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and
obedience to Government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one
another, for their fellow citizens of the United States at large and
particularly for their brethren who served in the field.
My Opinion: This is a great book and I learned more
about history which I never knew. I also realized we need to come together
again as citizens and not feel we have to stay divided as we are all loved in
god’s eyes.
