Mohawk Valley Trading Company is located in Utica,
NY and has some great Maple Syrup which comes in glass bottles and is made
primarily from sugar maple sap, which is preferred for maple syrup production
because it has an average sugar content of two percent. Sap from other maple
species is usually lower in sugar content, and about twice as much is needed to
produce the same amount of finished syrup. Maple sugar is made from the controlled crystallization of maple syrup and takes
several forms. Granulated maple sugar looks like brown sugar with variable
grain size.
Raw Buckwheat Honey which is a raw honey has not been
heated, filtered, blended or processed. All of the pollen, enzymes, propolis,
vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants, minerals and aromatics are in the same
condition as they were in the hive. This is available July thru October and if
you use honey for the health benefits it must be raw. You can also get Orange
Blossom Honey, Apple Blossom Honey, Tulip Poplar-Black Locust Honey, Goldenrod
and more depending on the season.
My Opinion: I only love pure maple syrup as it
tastes better than the ones with corn syrup or artificial ingredients making
them very sweet. These would also make great gifts for Christmas or any
occasion.
