Available on Blu-ray and DVD on June 30,2015 is The
Dovekeepers from Paramount Home Media
and CBS Home Entertainment with a SRP $42.99 and $39.99. This is based on the
novel by Alice Hoffman and executive producers
Roma Downey and Mark Burnett. The Dovekeepers follow a group of
extraordinary women whose lives intersect in the fight for survival. Set in
ancient Israel the riveting film recounts the events at Masan in 70 C.E. after
being forced from their homes in Jerusalem by Romans, 900 Jews seek safety in
the fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. Holding out for months
against a vast Roman army the film unfolds from the perspective of several
courageous women who work as “dovekeepers” risking their lives to conceal
secrets in their fight for survival.
This originally appeared on CBS as a two part miniseries event around
Easter. This movie stars Cote de Pablo
(NCIS), Rachel Brosnahan (House Of Cards TV Series) and Kathryn Prescott
(Finding Carter TV Series.
My Opinion: I really enjoyed the story the movie The
Dovekeepers told and found it great for the whole family to see with a powerful
message. I will be watching this over and over again!
