Buffy Meets the Zoonicorns by Mark Lubratt and Illustrated by Sara Weingartner

I got to review Zoonicorns which are a unique, plush toy for children that would be a combination of an exotic animal (zebra) and mythical creature (unicorn). They also wanted to create a children’s book to go with the character which would be educational for kids and entertaining for adults. I got sent all four of the Zoonicorns and they are Valeo who says “The Zoonicorn herd looks up to me because I’m their leader. I like to hang out with my friends especially the giraffes in the Africa exhibit. Sometimes when I meet new animals, I feel a little scared but I try to act brave. About the only animal in the zoo I don’t like to get to close to is the lion. He has BIG teeth. Thanks for stopping by! It’s nice to meet you.”
Promithea who says “I’m the Zoonicorn you can rely on when you need a friend.
Sometimes I’m quiet and might seem a little shy. That’s only because I don’t like to get a lot of attention. Once you get to know me, you’ll see I’m smart and gentle.
I’m the Zoonicorn you can trust with your secrets. That’s why my name sounds like the word “promise”. I promise to be your friend forever!Have a Zooriffic day!”
Aliel pronounced (A-lee-el) who says “When you first meet me, you’ll think my mouth gets ahead of my brain!  I’m the speedy Zoonicorn.  Zoom, Zoom!  And I love to play!  You might have a hard time keeping up with me.  Every animal in the zoo is my friend!  Do you want to be my friend, too?  Let’s play soon!
That’s all for now!  Have a Zoo-per day!”

Ene who says “I’m the Zoonicorn who likes to nap.  But don’t let my napping fool you!  Once I wake up, I go right back to my old tricks. The other Zoonicorns call me the mischievous one!  I didn’t think I put too much pepper in Mr. Giraffe’s hay. But he sure let out quite a long sneeze! When you want to play, you’ll find me relaxing with friends under the blossoming trees.  See you Zoon!”

The book that came with it is Buffy Meets the Zoonicorns by Mark Lubratt and Illustrated by Sara Weingartner and tells the story of Buffy. Buffy feels a little ignored and wants the freedom that the older animals have.  Within Buffy’s dream, she meets the Zoonicorns and learns to appreciate the balance of freedom and responsibility.  After waking up from her dreamland adventure, Buffy quickly realizes how much she appreciates her life… just as it is!   Each book includes a life lesson for positive reinforcement.

My Opinion: I really love the Zoonicorns and the colors of each of them are cute and the book is great to read at bedtime to kids and they can snuggle with their own Zoonicorn.  I know I plan on gifting a few of mine this year for Christmas or birthdays.
