Tales
of Sasha Journey Beyond the Trees (Book 2) By Alexa Pearl, illustrated by Paco
Sordo from Little Bee Books. For ages 6-8 years old. In this second book Sasha,
her best friend Wyatt, and their teacher Caleb journey into the forest to try
and find where Sasha came from. Sasha has just discovered she has wings and can
fly and that she’s not really from Verdant Valley where she grew up. As the
other horses in the valley discover Sasha’s secret, her teacher Caleb
reveals that, when he was a young horse, he once met a flying horse
named Sapphire in the forest beyond the valley, and she gave him a gift—a huge,
glittering blue feather with a piece of gold fabric wrapped around the stem. A
map is written on the gold fabric. Caleb explains that he tried to follow
it through the forest, but he could never get through because the trees would
close together and form a wall. Caleb wonders if the trees would open for
Sasha, and Sasha and her family decide Sasha should try.
My Opinion: I really enjoyed the story of this book
and found it to be very entertaining and great to read to kids at night before
bed along with kids’ reading before bed to relax and fall asleep.
