Available for the first time on Blu-Ray is Into the Woods which you can get on December 2, 2014 and with a MSRP ($24.98) from RLJ Entertainment and Image Entertainment. This is the Original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s , this is a three time Tony Award Winning production and stars Bernadette Peters (Ugly Betty), Joanna Gleason (King Of The Hill), Chip Zien (Law & Order), Tom Aldredge (Boardwalk Empire) and Robert Westenberg ( The Ice Storm).
This movie is about a baker and his wife who journey into the woods in search of a cow, a red cape, a pair of golden slippers and some magic beans to lift a curse that has kept them childless. This is a seamless fusion of fairy tale characters and what happens after “happily ever after” with oft-recorded songs such as Children Will listen and No One Is Alone. This is for the musically lover’s delight from the start to the very finish.
My Opinion: I liked the idea of the story and parent’s wishing to become parents and some musicals I like and others I do not this was fine. Great cast of characters and actors a delight for all to see.
