I am sorry I have not been around much this week on Wednesday
afternoon I lost a beloved pet of mine I had since he was 3 months old Shelby
who is a black masked lovebird . He has been like a son to me as when he was a
baby use to cuddle up under the collar of my pajamas and my husband and I traveled
a lot in the 13 years we had him from Colorado to live to Cape Cod a couple
times and then to Maine where we finally live. I took him to the vet on August
7, 2015 and found out he was really sick and being in the parrot family they
are known for heart issues and he had a heart murmur not to mention unsteady on
his feet and he picked his wing till it was raw that was the reason I brought
him to the vet to make sure it was not broken. I was given antibiotics and pain
meds to give him. I thought he was getting better be then I believe he suffer a
major heart attack that is what killed him. He let out a loud noise and then he
was gone. I am so heartbroken and in time know I will heal. I know some people
out they may not understand my attachment but I believe other will.
R.I.P. Shelby … I still miss you and I will see you
someday!
So sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a loving pet that has been in the family. I do understand the sadness after losing any type of pet. It seems like you took such wonderful care of him and treated him so well.

That's a long time to have a pet and I understand. I had my dog-child for 18 years, also in Colorado and it was just him and me. I didn't have anyone to talk to about it and I wish I had. Heartbreaking and it does take time. Mine was suffering so I took solace in that. ~Deb
