Absurdimals Lola goes to School by Gwendolyn Javor with illustrations by Aker Spears

Absurdimals Lola goes to School by Gwendolyn Javor with illustrations by Aker Spears from Belephant LLC.  The Absurdimals are a group of fun, loving characters who are here to challenge our perception of “normal”, and remind us of the beauty of individuality. They represent the many changing faces of our society; faces that, even today, are often looked upon as being too different. But like Mr. Hooves tells Lola, “There’s no two different, there’s only new different!”  In accepting and loving herself for who she is, Lola inspires other "normal" animals to come forward, and embrace their own perceived absurdities, too!

My Opinion: This book gives kid’s confidence to be themselves even if they are not alike anybody else in the class and the confidence to do so. It is true love is what brings everyone together and we need more in this world.
